As the People & Wellbeing Coordinator, you will coordinate the day-to-day delivery of Council's People & Wellbeing services, providing expert HR advice and support across the employee lifecycle. You will oversee activities including probation, performance management, HR systems administration, workforce reporting, policy implementation and employee records, while ensuring compliance with employment legislation and industrial instruments.
Reporting to the Manager, People & Wellbeing, you will also supervise the People & Wellbeing Officer and help foster a positive, inclusive and high performing workplace.
This role also involves occasional travel throughout the Torres Strait Islands providing the opportunity to work closely with our diverse communities and teams.
What we're looking for
We're looking for an experienced HR professional who enjoys partnering with people, solving problems and delivering practical outcomes. We need someone who shares our values of One, Respect, Accountability, Courage, and Resilience. Ideally, you will have:
- Certificate IV in Human Resources (or equivalent experience in a related field).
- Experience coordinating HR functions within a medium to large organisation.
- Knowledge of employment legislation, Industrial Relations, Awards and Certified Agreements.
- Experience providing practical HR advice and support to managers and employees.
- Experience using Human Resource Information Systems (TechnologyOne highly regarded).
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining confidentiality
- A commitment to teamwork, continuous improvement and outstanding customer service
Desirable:
- Diploma or Degree in Human Resource Management or a related discipline.
- Experience in Queensland Local Government.
- Experience supervising or mentoring staff.
- Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence.
Other Requirement
- The preferred applicant will require a National Police Certificate upon commencement.
