About the role:
As a Creditors Officer, you will be responsible for providing efficient and effective processing of accounts payable. Inputting invoices and assisting with supplier payment runs to ensure accurate and timely payment of accounts.
Key Tasks:
- Provide for the efficient and effective processing of accounts payable. Inputting invoices, reconciling supplier statements and assisting with supplier payment runs.
- Ensure Torres Strait Island Regional Council's (Council's) expenditure is processed within organisation guidelines ensuring all processed expenditure has been appropriately authorised, coded and paid within the credit terms agreed.
What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum one (1) to three (3) years' experience in a similar role in a large multi-disciplinary organisation undertaking accounts payable processing would be highly regarded.
- Certificate III Business Administration or related finance/accounting discipline is desired.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Able to use Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to prioritise and multitask.
- The ability to be culturally responsive through demonstrating an understanding of the issues affecting Torres Strait Islander people and communicating with sensitivity and effectiveness.
- Basic understanding of Meriam Mer, Kala Lagaw Ya, or Torres Strait Creole (highly desirable).
Other Requirements:
- The preferred applicant will be required to apply for a National Police Certificate before appointment.
