About the role:
The Executive Assistant (EA) to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) plays a vital role in supporting the CEO to lead the Torres Strait Island Regional Council in achieving its strategic objectives. This position ensures the smooth operation of the Executive Office through proactive coordination, high-level administrative support, and professional engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
The EA must exhibit exceptional judgement, initiative, and confidentiality while managing complex priorities in a dynamic environment. The role involves anticipating the CEO's needs, coordinating correspondence and key meetings, preparing documentation, and maintaining relationships that support informed and effective leadership decision making.

What We're Looking For:
We need someone who shares our values of One, Respect, Accountability, Courage, and Resilience. The ideal candidate will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Business Administration or equivalent combination of qualifications.
- Previous experience providing executive support at a senior management level, preferably in local government.
- High level of diplomacy, confidentiality and customer service skills.
- Excellent time management and organisation skills with the proven ability to assist in meeting competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders that enable collaborative partnerships both within and external to the organisation.
- Highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills across all levels of an organisation with experience in report writing, minute taking and the ability to draft various forms of documents and correspondence, and concisely summarise information.
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility in approach to work and workloads.
- Demonstrated experience in leading a team.
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues impacting Torres Strait Islander people together with the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively.
Occasional travel to the Torres Strait Islands will be a requirement of this position.
