About the role:

Torres Strait Island Regional Council is seeking an organised and proactive Fuel and Fleet Officer to support the Fuel and Fleet team. This pivotal role assists with the coordination of procurement, maintenance and relocation of plant and fleet assets across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain records for fleet purchases, maintenance, and disposals per Council policy.
  • Gather divisional data to support fuel and fleet budgeting and planning.
  • Assist in procurement by preparing purchase orders, sourcing quotes, and processing requisitions and invoices.
  • Liaise with suppliers and stakeholders to resolve fleet-related queries and complaints.
  • Coordinate timely repairs and maintenance of Council equipment.
  • Support reporting on fleet assets, plant utilisation, vehicle renewal, and budgets.
  • Update and maintain fleet data in Council systems (TechOne, ECM).
  • Assist with capital acquisition logistics and maintain a photographic fleet record.
  • Promote safe, environmentally responsible, and quality-assured work practices.

What We're Looking For

We need someone who shares our values of One, Respect, Accountability, Courage, and Resilience. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A qualification in fleet management, vehicle maintenance, project management, logistics, business administration, fuel, or transport.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a relevant field would be well regarded.
  • Well developed written communication skills and technical skills with computer systems.
  • Knowledge of Torres Strait languages (Meriam Mer, Kala Lagaw Ya, or Creole) is required.
